Derby, RWA 1 Million Gallon water storage tank
Construction started June of 2022 and was substantially Complete December 2023. The primary purpose of the storage tank was bolster the area’s ability to fight a major fire without over burdening the system. The focus was to ensure Griffin Hospital was fully protected. After the site had been prepped and several thousand cubic yards of rock and soil were removed from the site, allowing the tank foundation was able to be constructed on a bedrock substrate. Guerrera had subcontracted the actual tank construction with DN Tank based in Wakefield Mass. DN’s unique style of tank is comprised of cast in place concrete foundation, with precast concrete wall and roof segments that were cast on site. Tank construction started mid April and was completed in early July. The Valve Vault that controls the movement of water in and out of the tank was purchased from United Concrete in Yalesville, CT. The Vault arrived at the site in September, fully assembled and weighting in at 98,000 lbs., and was set in place by one of A-Quick Pick’s cranes in, Shelton, CT. Addison Electric, out of Torrington, CT, was contracted to complete all of the electrical requires needed to bring the tank online in late November 2023. A formal dedication took place on October 10, 2024.
